Right now, industry professionals are figuring out how to automate your job. But when they replace your job with some form of technology, it will also create other, new jobs. #UpSkill helps you grow your skills and connect you to job opportunities in this “new economy.” Think of us as your hub of resources, tools, and trainings so you can explore your options and make this transition on your own terms.
Why are we doing this?
We want you to get ahead because the future always wins. We know that 800 million jobs will be automated by 2030, but meanwhile only 6% of Americans understand that their job is likely to disappear or change. The mismatch between technology predictions and people's perceptions could leave communities economically devastated. We want you to get ahead - to change with the world, not react to it - so that this doesn't happen to you or your loved ones.
Who is at greatest risk?
Job loss is most immediately likely in work environments where the day-to-day tasks are consistent and industry regulations are more relaxed. We believe people in the trucking and quick-service food preparation ("fast food") industries are most in danger: in the next five years you may be out of a job if you don't start preparing right now. That's why our immediate focus is to empower you. 7.15 million jobs in the trucking and quick-service food industries in the U.S. are at risk of displacement now. In the next 5 years self-driving and robotics will impact 3.5 million truck drivers in the U.S. and 4 million fast food restaurant employees between the ages of 25 and 34.
800m jobs will be automated by 2030 - Up to 30% of work in every single occupation (from mining, to household work, to financial services, etc.) will be fully automated.
83% of jobs where people make less than $20 per hour are at high-risk for automation or replacement - The average hourly wage in the 3 largest occupations (retail, food, preparation, and transportation) is less than $20 per hour.
6% of Americans understand their job is going to change - This means 94% of Americans are not preparing for the way technology and automation are radically transforming their job and the field they are working in.
